Fear of Man - Video

Tuesday, July 26th, 2005 by Nick Verwymeren

This video was made by myself and John Melvin for our final project on SDC (School of Digital Communications). The topic of the video is on something we call the ‘fear of man’.

Many times we find ourselves too concerned about what others think, to the point that we can’t even share what we believe. In the video I become a living example of what it means to step out of the ‘fear of man’.

This is something that I even stuggled with at the beginning of my time here in Australia. I could share with others many of my viewpoints, but when it came to sharing my faith in Jesus I froze up. Much of that has changed now.

I guess once we get over ourselves, God notices and begins to use us for greater things.

Na, remember me?? The german girl. German schnitzel. Schornsteinfeger and Schwangerschaftsstreifen but you need to remember this sentence: Die Steckdose ist kaputt ich brauche einen Schraubenzieher. (you have still a few weeks to practise before I’m coming to RTO (Reef to Outback) ;o)

Hey Nick - Just had a chance to check out this website. I’ve only heard a bit about what you’re up to via your brother and he certainly didn’t make it sound nearly as awesome as it looks. It would seem that you’re having an adventure of a lifetime - I hope it is yielding all the fruits you’d hoped. Congrats on being courageous enough to follow your dream on this. Far too many people your age (she said as an elder, wiser woman) would be too afraid to tackle such a mission. I say, as the Aussies you meet will, good on ya mate. I look forward to more updates. Take care. And love every minute of what you’re doing over there.

PS - If you’re ever back to Winnipeg, would you be willing to come and talk to my Leadership class? Yours is a story of gold…

    Hi Nick

Like I said a few weeks ago, this video is really encouraging and really had an impact. Cool and thanks.

About Us

Sara and I (Nick) have been married since June 2007. We volunteer with an organization called YWAM (Youth With A Mission). YWAM has close to 1000 bases around the world. One of those bases is Reef to Outback in Townsville, Australia which is where we are located. Nick currently works in the communications department and Sara works with the music ministry. We believe that we will be in Australia for a few more years to continue volunteering. Neither of us receive a salary from RTO (Reef to Outback) or YWAM for what we do. We must raise all of our own support through church, friends, family, and anyone else who is genuinely interested in helping us (if you’d like to help us please visit our ‘Donate‘ section).
