The Life of YWAM’ers

Sara and I don’t get paid for what we do. We work in a missions organization which requires us to raise our own support. Why, you might ask, have I started off this article so abruptly. Well it’s because I need to write this article to ask for your help financially. There’s really no other way around it. We are basically asking for people who want to genuinely help us in what we do here. God uses willing heart to see His goals accomplished and here’s how I know.
Many months ago I wrote an article about a miracle in myself and Sara’s financial situation. We had just purchased plane tickets to visit New York and Winnipeg during the month of December. At the time we didn’t have enough money to pay off all of the ticket, and around $1100 CDN remained on my credit card to be payed off. I knew I had about a month to pay this off before I had to pay interest on my visa bill.
About three weeks later I was still stressing about how I was going to pay off this huge amount of money. So one night I started reading ‘Daring to Live on the Edge‘ by Loren Cunningham. Much of the book is filled with faith buildng financial miracles that have happened in YWAM (Youth With A Mission)’ers lives over the years. I read story after story about people who literally entrusted everything they had to God. Every time God showed His faithfulness. I called Sara up and she came over and we started to pray.
As we were praying something inside of me said ‘your visa bill will be payed off before you have to pay interest on it.’ I couldn’t believe it, I wasn’t sure if I was just conjuring this up in my head or if it was really from God. Then it came back to me again and again. Then I realised that I needed to proclaim it. I physically had to make the words come out of my mouth as a proclomation of faith that God would provide what we needed. So I told Sara what I heard with a conviction that I knew it would happen.
Sure enough several days later my church sent through the exact amount needed to pay off the entire visa bill. It really was an incredible moment for Sara and I. God showed us that he really is faithful in the area of finances.
I understand that this is a totally unconventional way of doing missions, but this is what God has called Sara and I to. To this day I still have never had to pay interest on my visa account. Basically every month seems to come right down to the wire. But why does it get paid off? It’s because God uses people willing hearts who are ready to listen and respond to Him. Whether or not you know it He really does speak to us.
Sara and I really do need to see brakthrough with our finances. We don’t believe that we will constantly have to struggle with it. We have been very careful with the money that has been entrusted to us and keep detailed account of everything we spend it on.
You see, it’s not really about the money. Money is just a tool to help accomplish the vision that Sara and I have for this ministry, and that’s to see people know the Lord and be discipled in their relationship wih Jesus.
If you’re interested in helping us in any way we’d love to hear from you. We’ve tried to make it as easy as possible to send money to us. You can visit the ‘Support‘ page of this website for more info on how to hep us. Anyone who does support us we’d be more than willing to show you where your money goes to. Thank you to everyone who has continually supported us, it means more to us than you know.
