We Really Do Talk Funny

Friday, February 10th, 2006 by Nick Verwymeren

Well I suppose everyone talks a little funny depending on their accent, but I can really notice it now that I’m home. If you ask many Canadians about their accent you’ll generally get the reply, what accent? I guess it’s just one of the small things I notice now since being away for the last one and a half years.

Although many Winnipeggers would not agree, I have found the cold and snow to be quite welcoming. So welcoming, that I decided to make an igaloo in my backyard and sleep in it. I suppose those are the memories I’ll cherish when I’m back in 35C weather with 90% humidity.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone soon. I know many of you have been busy with exams but it will be nice to see some framiliar faces this weekend. I’ve been busy trying to find changed phone numbers, so if your reading this and I haven’t called you pick up the phone and give me a call at home. I’ll be here until March 4th, and I don’t want to miss seeing anyone!

$2200CDN is no easy sum of money to raise. To everyone who pitched in just like to say thanks so much. God has called me into missions and I know that many of you have responded by wanting to help me through prayer support and finances.

Like I said I will be headed back in less than a month to continue working in the communications department, staff the School of Digital Communications, and run the internship for that school. Please continue to pray for me as I need to see an increase in support to continue working in Australia. You can visit my ‘support‘ page to see how you can be invloved.

About Us

Sara and I (Nick) have been married since June 2007. We volunteer with an organization called YWAM (Youth With A Mission). YWAM has close to 1000 bases around the world. One of those bases is Reef to Outback in Townsville, Australia which is where we are located. Nick currently works in the communications department and Sara works with the music ministry. We believe that we will be in Australia for a few more years to continue volunteering. Neither of us receive a salary from RTO (Reef to Outback) or YWAM for what we do. We must raise all of our own support through church, friends, family, and anyone else who is genuinely interested in helping us (if you’d like to help us please visit our ‘Donate‘ section).
